Our 10″ Two Ring Guard is made from 1/4″ hardened 5160 carbon steel; it’s the same steel that we use for our blades! This guard is the same as our 10″ Cruciform guard but it has the added protection of an oblong ring on each side that is 3.5″ long and stands 2-1/4″ from the blade. The quillons have a total tip-to-tip length of 10″ and are set with rounded finials that help keep control while in the bind. While we don’t offer much customization to this guard, we do offer the 3 finishes: “Bright”, a bright antiqued satin metal finish. “Blued”, a heat blued finish. Naturally darker, more durable and rust prohibitive than chemical bluing. Finally, “Polished”, a bright shiny deep polish that provides the best rust resistance and detail preservation.
We designed this guard to be a good simulator of the two ring long sword guards of the 16th and 17th centuries. This is a great option to go with when ordering a Complete Feder.
This guard is compatible with our Basic Broad Sword Blade, Type XV Blade, Type XVa Blade, Feder Blade, Spatha Blade and our Messer Blade.
