Our Spatha Blade features a hand ground flat taper that is 1.125″ wide at the forte and .5″ at the tip. This blade is ground to the specs of the late bronze and early iron age swords commonly portrayed through the Roman and Greek eras with wider fortes, debole and a slight waist in the mezzo. Our Blades are made from high quality 5160 spring steel bar stock tempered to the optimal point where maximum toughness & durability meets hardness, 50 Rockwell C. This blade has a polished finish and the flex is centered near the middle of the blade. The Spatha blade is our specific blade meant for cutting and thrusting single hand short swords. It’s a favorite for those who want to fight in the gladiatorial pits! Great for SCA Cut & Thrust and HEMA combat.
This blade is offered in a blade length of 28″ measured from the tang shoulder to the tip.
