In order to make our favorite hobby more accessible (we know better than anyone how expensive swords can be!) we’ve decided to reintroduce a new and improved Economy line. This Economy Rapier features our New Economy Clamshell guard with straight quillons, our tried & true 40″ F2 or F3 Flex Economy rapier blade, PLA handle, and small ball pommel. All for only $215!

Complete Economy Small Sword with AF #2 Epee Blade
Our economy small sword is based on the classic 18th century small sword design commonly used in western Europe, the new Americas and many other locations of the period. The Economy Spadroon features our simple yet elegant and extremely tough Economy Spadroon guard made from 100 grade alloy steel. It features our beloved all-around workhorse of a blade the Economy Small Federed Blade in lengths of 32", 34" and 36", a perfectly contoured 4.5" black PLA grip, and a simple Small Ball pommel.- Economy Spadroon Guard made from 100 grade "Domex" alloy steel.

Brand new and just for you: we now offer Economy Dagger Blades. Need something reliable and effective but working with a budget? We understand! These blades are 1 1/8" wide at the fort and taper to 3/8" at the rounded tip. Due to the manufacturing process we are unable to offer customization.

I bought mine around Christmas time 2018. Despite the holiday rush, the good folks at Castille got it to me in less than 2 weeks. It’s now May 2019 and I’ve been using it for about 4 months.
This has got to be one of the best values for a rapier I’ve seen available in North America. The price is really excellent, and the build quality is super solid. I’ve taken square hits from a sidesword straight on the shell and they didn’t deform. The riveted clam shells create a nice aesthetic – better than the older economy model with the one-piece shell, in my opinion – and true to many antiques. One criticism I could mention, though this factors into keeping the price affordable, is that the square quillions are a bit sharp and uncomfortable. They rub on the index finger and bite into the back of the hand during the cut. I ended up filing down the sharp edges, and now it’s perfect.
The modification potential, while not advertised, is good. It’s a simple sword and is thus simple to work on. I felt the grip was a bit long for me at 3.5″ and cut it down to 3″. The pommel is deeply threaded, and absorbed the extra half inch without having to cut any of the tang threads. This could be useful to you if you put 2 fingers over the quillion.
Overall, I would buy again and recommend to anyone getting into rapier fencing.
