Description

Our Small Feder Blade is a special robust offering meant to fulfill the need for a universal affordable single handed training blade. It features a flat ground, narrow distal taper with a schilted forte. This makes the blade feel wide at its base and offers some protection for “Thumb Over” styles while keeping the overall weight down. This design also allows the added benefit of a very thick and rounded edge of 4mm. Our blades are made from high quality 5160 spring steel bar stock tempered to the optimal point where maximum toughness & durability meets hardness, 50 HRC. These blades have a polished finish and the flex is centered in the tip third of the blade. Great for SCA Cut & Thrust, HEMA and WMA combat.

 

These blades are offered in a blade lengths of 32″, 34″ and 36″ measured from the tang shoulder to the tip. This measurement would include the ricasso section if used in conjunction with a guard that offers that feature.

 

We offer these blades with 2 levels of flex stiffness catering to your desired combat discipline:  (F3) Crossover Rapier/C&T and HEMA Flex and (F4) High Stiffness C&T and HEMA Flex

 

Crossover SCA Rapier/C&T and HEMA Flex (F3)– Medium heavy stiffness, compliant to SCA Rapier and Cut & Thrust calibration. 1″ – 1.5″ drop @ 6 oz. (170 gr.). Recommended flex for SCA Rapier and Cut & Thrust dual duty, WMA and HEMA armored combat.

C&T and HEMA Flex (F4)- High stiffness, compliant to SCA Cut & Thrust and HEMA calibration. .5″ – .75″ drop @ 6 oz. (170 gr). Recommended for SCA Cut & Thrust and HEMA armored combat only.

These blades are offered with a 4.75″ tang, best suited for swords with a ricasso, like our Complete Economy Side Sword and 5.75″ which will fit our Basket hilt parts and arming sword parts.

 

Finally, we offer two tip types: Normal Tip (NT) (+$0.00), the standard rounded tip that accepts a rubber blunt and Spatulated Tip (ST) (+ $11.00), a swelled and rounded tip that offers tip width of no less than 5mm.

Complete Economy Sabre (Castille’s Ugly Lil’ Sabre)
Our economy sabre is based on the 19th and 20th century light cavalry sabres that boasted the “stirrup” style guards. This inexpensive simulator while being light, a historically accurate total weight of 700 grams, administers plenty of blade presence. The blade is a robust flat ground version of our 20 mm Dueling blade at 34” F3 and proper Radaelli curve. The rounded blade edge has a minimum of 3mm thickness, a maximum of 5mm at the forte and a 3mm wide rounded tip.  The guard is made from high strength DOMEX alloy steel and offers a great deal of space for heavy gloved hands including SPES style gloves. Finally, this sabre offers a robust black PLA grip and a specialized low profile recessed allen nut to hold it all together. Not recommended against heavy long swords and feders.
