Our unique small sword is based, well, literally 3D modeled off of an antique court sword in Sam’s collection. We simplified the 3D files and modified them slightly to work with modern epee blades. We then use these files to make exact reproductions and they are infinitely repeatable. These parts sets are made from 316L stainless in a bright finish, the pommel is threaded M6 to accommodate most epee blades and “Musketeer” blades. The grip is made 3D printed PLA.
This build can be taken to the ultimate level of control and realistic handling when paired with our dedicated 32″ Colichemarde blade, made from high quality 5160 steel, ground with a triangular cross section from the wide forte to the small rounded nail head tip. The point of balance with this blade is right at 10 cm and the total weight is a mere 460 grams. This blade is soft in the foible; equal to that of a contemporary epee (Musketeer) blade, but the forte is rigid enough to take on much heavier swords without compromising speed and nimble control.
What makes this small sword hardware so unique is that it is historically accurate in form an function due to it’s antique clone nature. Mounted on a #2 epee blade the total weight is a mere *335 grams with a balance point of *2″ (5cm). The crown shaped pommel is 38 gr. and the guard is 145 gr. The grip is 3.875″ (9.8 cm) long per the antique, which put the pommel just in the crook of the wrist for excellent hand position. The guard has decent sized rings and a comfortable ricasso section.
It is ROBUST, other similar guards cast from tin, bronze or brass are fairly soft. This hardware set being made from 316L stainless is not only quite hard, it is completely tarnish and rust resistant.
We offer our small sword with a few blade options including our dedicated 32″ Castille Colichemarde blade or Blue Gauntlet brand epee blades in #2 (32″) and #5 (35″) lengths.
We also offer the complete hardware set stand alone with no blade HERE. Keep in mind that there may be some slight filing and fitment if you use your own supplied blades as there are some differences in forte size from brand to brand.
Our Colichemarde blade is available stand-alone as well HERE!
Finally, the best part of these is the price! We’ve made it affordable to train with a small sword that is every bit as realistic as the antiques.
* Weight may vary depending on the brand and size of epee blade.
