Next, our generalized offering is based on an 1830’s French Officers Spadroon that I was able to study for a bit. It features a tear-drop style guard and a tall top quillon. It is sort of an amalgamation of the Prussian M1816 Degen, 1796 heavy officers sword and even a bit of the 1840 nco’s sword. In any case, it is a great all around Spadroon simulator. We just call it the “1830” for lack of easier description.
Lastly, my personal favorite, the “Albertina”. Our version is based heavily on the M1833 Italian Officers Sword of the reign of Charles Albert. It features a built-in finger ring that improves control and handing. The finger ring can fit one or two fingers.
We’ve designed a 32″ (81 cm) diamond distal taper blade that pairs with each of the guard styles very well. Our Spadroon blade is 1″ (2.5 cm) wide at the fort and tapers to a 5/16″ (7 mm) rounded or swelled tip. ***This proprietary blade has a 5.5″ (14 cm) tang that is too long to fit our rapier offerings.*** The bare blade weighs 305 grams @ F3 Flex.
Our grip design is based on a generalized shape most commonly found on the 5 Ball variants. It has a rectangular cross section at the front and graduates to round at the back. It has grooves that run length-wise. These are 3D printed from solid in-fill hard PLA and are covered with a rubberized coating. Offered in black only.
We offer 4 pommels that each add their own character and maintain a specific P.O.B.
Overall Weight and P.O.B for each complete type are as follows:
5 Ball- 690 grams, 3-3/8″ (8.5 cm) P.O.B.
1830- 700 grams, 3-5/16″ (8.2 cm) P.O.B.
Albertina- 715 grams, 3-1/4″ (8.0 cm) P.O.B.
