Welcome to the Build Your Own Feder page! We debuted this version at SoCal Swordfight 2024 and it was a big hit with the long sword folks. People had nothing but great things to say about the balance and handling; how it moves effortlessly, has heft for binds but still has the most nimble blade they’ve ever experienced. Heft and agility? It’s not magic, it’s science and engineering. On top of everything the parts are completely modular with our patent pending X-Tang™ system. This model features a 5160 spring steel blade @ 38″ and 40″ heat treated carefully with longer processes for a more consistent hardness. The schilt is redesigned to give plenty of room for the thumb but shaped for quick disengages. There are 3 hardened guards to choose from, the curved “Type 6″, the Two Ring and the conventional straight cross. Our beloved 7075 aluminum core coated grips have been improved with greater tolerances and now boast a 3mil Mil+Spec™ coating for extra impact resistance. These grips are the backbone of our X-Tang™ system and are offered on this build in 10″ and 12″ lengths. Switching them out is a snap because both of these grip lengths and the corresponding tang extension are sold separately. We’ve also got a new product treat for those who love the feeling of cord wrapped grips. We are proud to announce our new EZ wrap grip cores! These are the same aluminum cores we use for our coated grips but we leave them uncoated and add a bit of machining wizardry at each end. It takes just a few minutes to unwrap and re-wrap these grips with the use of a little hex wrench so you can replace the cord with anything from 2mm cord of your choosing all the way up to 3/16” parachute cord. Great for on the spot re-wraps or even just for color changes! Finally we have 3 new and improved pommel choices that were designed for comfort, perfect balance and that old school look we all want; the Scent Stopper, the Wheel and the Ring pommel.
